With a very large pst-file larger than 4GB and a slower hard disk, this process can sometimes take longer than half an hour. In reality, it is not hanging but making a copy of your pst-file in the background or already has started the repair process.

Depending on the size of your pst-file and the speed of your hard disk, this can take a while. You can choose Options and opt not to have a log created, or you can have the results appended to an existing log file. If the scan finds errors, choose Repair to start the process to fix them.

Note: The scan creates a backup file during the repair process. Starting in Outlook , version build You can now choose to have the Inbox Repair tool run automatically until a steady state is reached.

Any of the following command line arguments enable the new functionality. Other command line arguments are covered in the Command-line arguments table.
